Leah Boyd held a love for painting since pre-school, a passion nurtured by her parents through enrollments in various locally run art classes growing up. She took a hiatus from creating art and in the meantime, pursued degrees in art history and computer science. At the beginning of 2025, she reconnected with her younger self and rediscovered her love for painting. While her primary medium is water soluble oils, she enjoys experimenting with acrylic inks and oil pastels.
Leah’s current work explores the domestic. Funky chairs, food, and dogs often find their way into her paintings. These elements work together to create intimate interior scenes as if emerging from a hazy memory. Through rich color palettes and unapologetic textured brushstrokes, the memory is brought into focus like a camera lens finding its subject. She hopes her work evokes a sense of familiarity and nostalgia, where food conjures memory.
